The White Shark Trust Field Research Assistantship is proud to introduce you to our assistants:
TJ BARANEK from Pewaukee (Wisconsin, USA) has been with us since the 15th of July 2003.
On the 1st of September 2003, we welcomed three new assistants:
Alan DUNCAN from Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland
Chris MILNES from Grantham, Lincolnshire, England
and
Rhiannon COLLINGBORN from Chippenham, Wilts, England

| On Thursday the 4th of September 2003, the weather allowed us to go to sea for the first time... TJ, back from surfing in Jeffrey's Bay, and our new group of assistants, Rhiannon, Chris and Alan, were all (including myself) very eager to see some Sharks! And the little bit of rain in the beginning did not really bother the sight of a White Shark! |  |

We only observed one White Shark today... but, the shark remained around our boat for over an hour! The water was also crystal clear which made the view much more enjoyable!
A Hagfish decided to join us on the boat through the water hole... either it was scared of the shark, or the smell of that piece of tuna on the deck was incredibly irresistible! |

| Tom Peschak, author and photographer of the book "Currents of Contrast", also joined us after his expedition on "Whale Whisperer", the Whale Watching boat of Dyer Island Cruises.
The first day for our assistants is always an orientation day, during which they get to observe... TJ was handling the bait... |
